SPECIAL TOPICS CLASS-PEARL, MS (APRIL 27-29, 2010)
The Mississippi Association of Crisis Negotiator’s (MACN) will sponsor a three day special topics class. The Class will be held April 27-29, 2010, on the campus of the Mississippi Fire Academy, Pearl, MS. The training is designed to familiarize members of local, state, and federal law enforcement, prison officials, and first responders to a crisis situation. This will also serve as a refresher training for trained negotiators and crisis managers.
The topics covered will include, but not limited to, active listening skills, command/tactical/negotiation communication, crisis negotiation team protocol, crisis intervention, decision making criteria for commanders, high risk indicators in crisis negotiations, incident assessment process, kidnap negotiations, negotiations in a prison setting, fundamentals of crisis negotiation, and law enforcement on-line. Also, case studies of several crisis situations will be presented during the week.
The class will start each day at 8:30 am and end at 5:00 pm. Those selected to attend will be awarded 24 hours credit for training by the Mississippi Department of Public Safety, Office of Standards and Training.
The training is free of charges, however, all meals, transportation, and living arrangements are the responsibility of the attendee. Additional information will be provided to those selected to attend.
