Members of the MTOA:
It was a great honor to speak with you at the MTOA Banquet at the 2008 Conference in Meridian last month. Since the Association was founded, it has been an important part of the Mississippi Law Enforcement landscape. In visiting with you at the Banquet, it was immediately apparent that the MTOA is as important to each of you as it has been to me for well over twenty years.
Since that meeting at the MLEOTA gymnasium many years ago that “started” the MTOA, the most important mission of the Association has been to provide training for our “Tactical Officers” from across the state. This remains an obvious area of great interest to me. Your response to my remarks at the Banquet was a profound indication that each of you share that concern and interest in the training that is so necessary to develop and maintain the skills needed to fulfill your responsibilities within your Teams and also to “Get Home Safely Each Night”!
As we go forward, the need for “Specialty Teams” will no doubt increase. The demands upon those Teams will also become more intense. The citizens across our state will continue to depend upon you to respond to and solve the most hazardous of situations that occur within their communities,,, within your communities. From training with and knowing most of you for many years, I know that the confidence that our citizens have in each of you is well placed! I am very proud that we have men and women like you to perpetuate an association and a philosophy that have set the tone for “Tactical Readiness” across the southeast for many years. I too have great confidence in each of you to keep all of us safe.
If I can ever be of assistance to any of you in any way, please do not hesitate to call upon me. AND,,, always train like your life depends on it,,, because at some point, it WILL!!! Stay safe my friends, and God Speed!!!
