BASIC SNIPER COURSE-WEST MONROE, LA

The West Monroe Police Department
is hosting a BASIC RIFLE MARKSMANSHIP/SNIPER SCHOOL
during April 26th-30th, 2010.

Location: Monroe Police Department Rifle Range - Monroe, Louisiana and The North Delta Regional Training Academy - West Monroe, Louisiana.

This Class is limited to 30 students. The price of the class is $200.00 per student or $400.00 per team of two.

Registration Deadline is April 19th, 2010.

This course is directed to Officers that are currently assigned to a law enforcement special response units or military units, functioning as a rifle marksman.

The Officer attending this course of instruction will participate in classroom activities and marksmanship activities at various distances from the target. This course will contain shooting exercises involving physical exertion, stressful conditions, and low light conditions. The course will also cover camouflage, cover, and concealment methods.

Officers attending the course will also be instructed in the areas of weapons care and cleaning, movement, data book, and observation skills.

ALABAMA TACTICAL OFFICERS ASSOC. CONFERENCE

FROM THE ALABAMA TACTICAL OFFICERS’ ASSOC:

This year’s conference will be hosted October 4th-7th, 2010 by the Lee County Sheriff’s Office in Opelika, Alabama along with the Auburn Police Department and Opelika Police Department. We are in the process of setting up the event.

The conference will consist of two components: a SWAT team evaluation and individual training classes for those who choose not to participate in the team evaluation. The Lee County Sheriff’s Office will be providing cost-effective training for all conference attendees and free lodging for the team members participating in the SWAT evaluation.

All SWAT team evaluation participants will compete in an around-the-clock series of events that will push them to their limits. Snipers will have events made specifically for them as well. The evaluation will be held at the National Security Associates’s Chattahoochee County Training Facility outside Fort Benning, Georgia.

2010 MTOA CONFERENCE/COMPETITION-TUPELO, MS

The 2010 MTOA CONFERENCE AND COMPETITION WILL AGAIN BE HELD IN TUPELO THIS YEAR.

The conference has been set a little earlier this year, September 27-30th, 2010. We will put out more information as things develop.

SPECIAL TOPICS CLASS-PEARL, MS (APRIL 27-29, 2010)

The Mississippi Association of Crisis Negotiator’s (MACN) will sponsor a three day special topics class. The Class will be held April 27-29, 2010, on the campus of the Mississippi Fire Academy, Pearl, MS. The training is designed to familiarize members of local, state, and federal law enforcement, prison officials, and first responders to a crisis situation. This will also serve as a refresher training for trained negotiators and crisis managers.

The topics covered will include, but not limited to, active listening skills, command/tactical/negotiation communication, crisis negotiation team protocol, crisis intervention, decision making criteria for commanders, high risk indicators in crisis negotiations, incident assessment process, kidnap negotiations, negotiations in a prison setting, fundamentals of crisis negotiation, and law enforcement on-line. Also, case studies of several crisis situations will be presented during the week.

The class will start each day at 8:30 am and end at 5:00 pm. Those selected to attend will be awarded 24 hours credit for training by the Mississippi Department of Public Safety, Office of Standards and Training.

The training is free of charges, however, all meals, transportation, and living arrangements are the responsibility of the attendee. Additional information will be provided to those selected to attend.

Note: The class will be limited to 100 attendees, so get the application in ASAP.

CTS INSTRUCTOR CLASS-SOUTHAVEN

The Southaven Police Department is hosting a Combined Tactical Systems Instructor Class at the Southaven Police Department Training Center on May 10th thru May 14th, 2010. The Instructor Class will be 8 hours per day to include classroom and range exercises. Information provided, will include history of the products, nomenclature of products, use of force considerations, hands on applications for products, training examples, and legal implications. The class will cover OC, Chemical Munitions, Impact Munitions, and Distraction Devices. The cost for the class is $695.00 per student.
