What is the purpose of the MTOA?
The purpose of the MTOA is to facilitate the
exchange of information related to tactical police
operations, training, and equipment; to foster
friendship and cooperation among personnel from
different law enforcement agencies; and to lend
assistance and support in the training of police
tactical teams.
Who can join the MTOA?
Membership is limited to certified Mississippi
peace officers who are members of a tactical team
or engage in tactical operations and training;
Federal law enforcement officers who are stationed
in Mississippi and are members of a tactical team
or engage in tactical operations and training; fulltime sworn law enforcement officers that are trained hostage negotiators; and
active members of the US armed forces who are
members of a tactical team or engage in tactical
operations and training. Associate membership will
be granted to persons and organizations determined
to be active supporters of the MTOA. All
membership applications must be approved by the
president and board of directors. It should be noted that fulltime armed forces must be stationed in Mississippi.
What are some of the training events that
the MTOA sponsors?
The MTOA sponsors an annual training
conference/competition and is also home to the
annual North American Sniper Championship which
brings in police/military sniper teams from around
the world. The MTOA also holds a quarterly training
meeting.
How can joining the MTOA improve my tactical
team?
As a member of the MTOA, your team will be able
to exchange valuable information on training and
equipment dealing with tactical police operations.
